European Languages Week!

Welcome to Year 4.
This week we are learning about the United Kingdom.
As part of European Languages Week, Year 4 have learnt all about England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The children have had fun practising different accents.
Year 4 have learnt some ‘Cockney Rhyming Slang’. For example, we learnt that the phrase ‘apples and pears’ means 'stairs' and the phrase 'my loaf of bread' means ‘my head’.
We also learnt some Welsh words. ‘Sut mae’ means ‘how are you?’.
In Scotland, we learnt that ‘wee’ is another word for ‘little’.
In Ireland, we learnt that ‘top of the morning’ means ‘good morning’.
